The New York State Presidential Primary is a close primary. Only voters registered in a political party may vote for that party's candidates.
Political Calendar for the Presidential Primary
- Mar. 30 - Last day to register for Primary Election at the Board of Elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by this date and received by the Board of Elections by Apr. 4.
- Apr 4. - Last day to notify Board of Elections of change of address.
- Apr. 17 - Last day to postmark application for Absentee Ballot.
- Apr. 23 - Last day to apply in person for an Absentee Ballot.
- Apr. 23 - Last day to postmark Absentee Ballot. Must be received by the Board of Elections no later than May 1.
- Apr. 24 - Last day to deliver Absentee Ballot in person to the Board of Elections.
